Your Guide to Caregiving
Caring for a loved one can feel overwhelming. You’re suddenly faced with decisions about doctors, home care, Medicaid, and finances, while still trying to manage your own life. It’s exhausting, lonely, and easy to feel like you’re carrying it all by yourself.
I understand this because I’ve been there. For more than eight years, I was the primary caregiver for my mother. I managed everything from complex medical decisions to long-term care planning, often learning the hard way how confusing and stressful the system can be. That experience changed me. It taught me the resilience, resourcefulness, and determination it takes to be a family caregiver. It also showed me how much difference the right support can make.
Family Caregiving Solutions was born out of that journey. My goal is simple: to give families the clear guidance and independent advocacy I wish I’d had when I started. I help you make confident choices, avoid costly mistakes, and find peace of mind knowing you don’t have to do this alone.
From Family Caregiver to Community Leader
My path doesn’t stop with my own family. I have served as Board President and later Executive Director of Caregiver Connections (formerly Eagle Valley Senior Life), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting family caregivers and older adults. During my leadership, we expanded respite programs giving older adults meaningful connection while providing families much-needed respite. And, I provided many care consultations families with all kinds of caregiving situations.
That experience deepened my commitment to making caregiving more manageable, not just for one family at a time, but for entire communities. Today, through Family Caregiving Solutions, I bring that same spirit of advocacy and clarity directly to the families I serve.
Credentials & Philosophy
I hold a Master of Education (M.Ed) and am a Professional Member of the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA), the national organization that sets the standards of ethics and practice for this field. These credentials reflect my dedication to professionalism, continuing education, and ethical caregiving guidance.
My Philosophy
At the core, my philosophy is simple: I work only for you. I do not accept commissions, referral fees, or compensation from facilities or agencies. My recommendations are 100% independent, unbiased, and based solely on what is best for your loved one and your family.
I also firmly believe older adults and family caregivers have the right to determine what quality of life looks like for them. We don’t always get exactly what we want and may need to compromise. Often, however, I see family members sacrificing their own quality of life so their loved one can achieve theirs. It doesn’t have to be one or the other!
Many factors go into a decision whether to keep someone at home or get care elsewhere and there is no right or wrong! No judgement. Your loved one can receive the care that is needed whether in their own home or somewhere else IF they have someone who understands long-term care and can be a strong advocate. I can be that person.
There are certain realities when it comes to long-term care. Let’s face it, it is expensive and most of us will need some form of care. According to CBS News, 70% of older adults 65 and older will need some form of long term care in their lifetime.
Working with an Aging Life Care Professional can save you money. Too often I’ve seen that family members just don’t know how to keep someone at home or don’t think they can manage it and put them somewhere else prematurely which ends up costing a lot of money. In many situations, it is my philosophy that exploring some form of in-home care first is preferable and more cost effective. I also realize it sometimes just isn’t possible. Whatever the goal, I am here to support you.
